Counselling and psychotherapy in West London including couples work and family therapy.
Have you been wondering if it would be useful to talk to someone about something that is bothering you? Do you think it would be helpful to find a place that is safe and accepting where you can discuss freely and openly any worries, struggles or concerns?
My name is Ginny O'Connor and I have been a counsellor/psychotherapist for 20 years. I am based in Hammersmith, West London (near Shepherds Bush, Chiswick and Fulham). I also work with clients across the world with on-line or phone therapy sessions. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work with both individuals and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. I also work with families and have trained in family therapy.
My view of what I do as a counsellor/psychotherapist is that I join you on your journey of life for as long as is useful to you. You are the expert in your own life but what I can provide is an unbiased view which can often throw light on something that might be difficult to see when one is emotionally involved with it.
The most empowering thing we can do is to see how our thinking and responses affect our behaviour and therefore the behaviour of other people in our world towards us. Often as we change, the world around us changes.
I am experienced in helping individuals and couples who would like to work on their personal relationships. This includes experience of working with relationship breakdown with couples and within families, addiction, anxiety, depression, sexual difficulties, chronic illness, trauma, suicide, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, loneliness, loss and bereavement, divorce and singleness.
I work with families and with children and teenagers and hope to provide a place where everyone feels accepted, heard and able to talk honestly and openly about how they are really feeling, which is often a surprise to those who know and love them. My view is that often we put strategies in place, with which to protect ourselves and handle life as children and young people. These strategies can impact our adult relationships. As we think through some of the issues of the past, the concerns of the present often become clearer and therefore more possible to resolve.
My counselling practice is in Hammersmith, West London and is within easy reach of the Picadilly, District, Circle, Hammersmith and City and Central line underground stations. Hammersmith bus station is approximately 7 minutes walk away. However, During the current coronavirus situation, all my sessions are now on-line or on the phone.
